When asked why she loves movies so much, Jennifer Lopez said, “It’s just… they make you feel like a kid again. You know?” So what if some of her favorite movies are comedies (like the one that started it all), dramas (like Moonlight) or even crime thrillers (like The Dark Tower)? That doesn’t matter. All we’re talking about is the fact that she loves them all. And not just because of their content—she calls them “a little nuts” and “just a little crazy” in the same sentence. Instead, she likens it to when she first saw the film Beowulf—she couldn’t stop watching it, and couldn’t get enough of her surroundings. Lopez knows how much acting—and especially music and movies—can do for a person after they finish filming. She also knows that each audience member has their own favorite movie in terms of sound and quality—so she provides a list of 10 favorites for all audiences out there who are eager to see them:
The Little Mermaid
Once upon a time, when humans were the only animals with real ears, a satisfyingly adorable little mermaid came to mind to star in the film. But thanks to the movie’sLETTER, we get a whole lot more than a charming little mermaid. We get the developers’ insight into how a mermaid’s biology has evolved in the decades since her appearance, as well as plenty of backstory about how she landed where she is today.
That being said, the good news is that the film’s beautiful visuals don’t get in the way of the wonderful, heartfelt stories of the mermaid’s friends. And the charming, adorable mermaid trailer doesn’t do anything to excuse the movie’s overall unbalanced tone. Overall, though, the Little Mermaid is still one of the best films of all time.
## The Lion King
Featuring one of the all-time best Disney characters, how could one not love the smash hit film about a king who vows to make his children “sick” and “bad” at everything? Well, it’s because of Ayelet Zurer and her incredible performance as three different characters: the gentle, wise, and manipulative mother/child; the devious, scheming, and cunning stepfather; and the mischievous, mischievous, and mischievous younger brother.
The Lion King also stars Steve Carell as the king, who has one of the highest personalities of any Disney character, and has an amazing portrayal of the human heart in his character. It’s no secret that Carell is one of the greatest actors of all time, and it’s no secret that his performance in The Lion King is iconic. It’s just that the film’s legacy lives on through his portrayal of the king.
## Aladdin
One of the most recognizable Disney characters, Aladdin is also one of the most iconic Disney movies overall. Launched in 2011, the Aladdin movie franchise has made history as the first Disney movie to gross a $100 million dollar opening weekend, which is yet another incredible feat for an animated film; it also happens to be one of Disney’s most successful titles in terms of both rentals and sales.
Unfortunately, the Aladdin film noir never really had the staying power that it needed to become a cultural phenomenon. As a result, the Aladdin franchise is mostly remembered for its antagonists and the deeply personal stories behind their motivations. Fortunately, there are more than enough Sobhy Morgan and his friends to populate a second Hollywood after the fact.
## Beauty and the Beast
After making history during the Aladdin opening weekend with $100 million dollars, Disney and Disney Channel Animation immediately pivoted their attention to finding the perfect prince for Belle. What they ended up with was a truly incredible performance fromIdris Elba, who plays the Beast, and an iconic tale about joie de vivre, striptease parties, and an extremely unlikely relationship between a Princess and a Beast.
This Disney classic is arguably the most romantic Disney film ever made, and it’s the story that spearheaded an entire subgenre of Disney romance. The true-life story of American heiress Merida (played by Hailee Steinfeld) and prince Phillip (played by Kristoffs) is a rousing Cinderella story, told in beautiful Disney-style clear-screens.
